A Little Bit Of History

Construction of the nine hole One Mile Golf Course commenced in 1995 and was opened to the public in February 2002.

Wisely the directors at the time chose the finest Bermuda 328 turf for the greens and greenlees park grass for the tees and fairways. This gave the course a solid foundation for when in 2004, a major refurbishment programme was initiated with the view to bring the course to up resort standard.

Water storage for the irrigation of the golf course was ‘designed in’ by the golf course architects by way of the dam situated near the centre of the course. Water is piped throughout the golf course to sprinklers at all greens, tees and fairways. Today the watercourse and the storage dam are some of the most beautiful features of the course attracting many varieties of birdlife and native animals.

About this time the directors conducted a survey as to the viability of a residential development on part of the site. The results of the survey were overwhelmingly in favour of establishing a high quality townhouse type precinct. The Pine Rivers Shire Council, as it was known then agreed that the community would benefit from such a development and the decision was made to proceed.

A state of the art wastewater treatment system to service the community was installed and commissioned shortly after. The water from the treatment system is now used to augment the irrigation for our most valuable asset, the course and associated gardens. Due to the clever design of the system, from rainwater harvesting through the townhouses and dams and wastewater management processes, we have ensured that there will never be a shortage of water for the golf course regardless of prevailing weather conditions and threat of drought.

Through an intensive consultation process with planners and architects, plans and specifications were prepared and a development application was submitted to council. While this was being assessed, work continued on course beautification to ensure that once completed, the One Mile Country Club will become one of Australia’s most desirable resort style golf course communities.

The development application was approved in May 2008. From then site preparation has commenced and now we have this beautiful and exciting new package to offer to you. We look forward to you coming to live in leisure to enjoy what we believe to the most beautiful and complete lifestyle precinct you will find.
